Returns & Refunds

Last updated 22 September 2026

If something is wrong with your order, we want to fix it. This policy explains when you can cancel, when you can return, who pays to send the goods back, and how quickly you get your money. It sits alongside your rights under South African law rather than replacing them.

Changing your mind: your 7-day cooling-off right

Because you bought online, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you 7 days from the day you receive the game to cancel the sale. You do not have to give a reason, and we may not charge you a penalty for cancelling.

To use this right the game must come back to us complete and in a resaleable condition, with all components, inserts and packaging. You may open the box and look at it — that is the point of the right — but a copy that has been played with, written on, or returned with pieces missing is no longer resaleable and we will reduce the refund to reflect the loss in value.

The only cost you carry is the direct cost of returning the goods to us. We refund the full purchase price, including the original delivery charge, within 30 days of the cancellation, as section 44(3) requires.

This right belongs to you personally as a consumer. It does not apply to a purchase made by a business for resale.

Damaged in transit, or the wrong item

Please open and check your parcel as soon as it arrives. If the box is crushed, the contents are damaged, or you received something other than what you ordered, tell us within 7 days of delivery and send photographs of the item and the outer packaging.

Until you accept delivery, the goods are at our risk under section 19(6) of the Consumer Protection Act — not yours. We will arrange collection at our cost and send a replacement, or refund you in full including delivery, whichever you prefer.

Faulty goods

Section 55 of the Consumer Protection Act entitles you to goods that are of good quality, in good working order, free of defects, and usable and durable for a reasonable period. If the game fails that standard, section 56(2) gives you 6 months from delivery to return it.

Within that period the choice of remedy is yours, not ours: you may require a repair, a replacement, or a refund. We may not insist on repairing something you asked to have refunded. Returning faulty goods is at our risk and our expense.

If we repair or replace the game and the same failure happens again within three months, section 56(3) entitles you to a full refund or a replacement, and we may not offer a further repair.

This does not cover damage you caused, ordinary wear from use, or a copy altered after delivery.

What we cannot take back

  • Gift cards and digital codes, once issued.
  • Items bought from someone other than us, including a copy resold to you privately. Your claim in that case is against the person who sold it to you.
  • A numbered edition returned without its certificate or numbered components, where those cannot be replaced.

Buying on promotion does not remove your rights: a discounted copy carries exactly the same cooling-off and defect protections as one bought at full price.

How to start a return

  1. Email hello@spheramythos.com with your order number, which edition number you received, what is wrong, and photographs if the item is damaged or faulty.
  2. We will reply within two business days with a return reference and instructions.
  3. Pack the game in its original packaging, inside an outer box so the game box itself is not damaged or labelled in transit.
  4. Send it to the return address below, or wait for the collection we arrange if the return is at our cost.

Please do not send anything back before you have a return reference from us. Unannounced parcels cannot be matched to an order and may be refused by the courier.

Who pays for the return

How and when you get your money

We inspect returned goods as soon as they reach us and tell you the outcome. Approved refunds go back to the payment method you used — we cannot refund to a different card or account.

We process the refund within 10 business days of approving it, and in every case within the 30 days that section 44(3) of the ECT Act allows for a cancellation. Your bank may take a further few days to show the money in your account.

Where a discount code was used, we refund what you actually paid. A single-use code is not reissued once the order it was used on has been refunded.

Exchanges

Because every copy carries its own edition number, we cannot swap one numbered edition for another. If you want a different number, return the copy you have under the cooling-off right above and place a new order for the one you want, while it is still unclaimed.

Cancelling before dispatch

If you change your mind before we hand the parcel to the courier, email hello@spheramythos.com and we will cancel the order and refund you in full. The edition number then returns to the pool for someone else to claim.

If you are not satisfied

Write to hello@spheramythos.com and we will look at it again. If we still cannot resolve it, you may refer the matter to the National Consumer Commission or a recognised consumer goods ombud. Our full complaints process is in our Terms of Service.
